This DIY Fry Seasoning is not only great on homemade or frozen french fries, but it’s also great on roasted potatoes, homemade potato chips, and more! Ready in minutes, it’s a great seasoning mix to have on hand in your cupboard.
This Fry Seasoning is similar to a seasoned salt. Yes, you could just use seasoned salt or buy a fry seasoning, but the seasoning mix is quick and easy to make at home. That way you can adjust the spices to your personal preference.
Like I mentioned, it’s not only delicious on homemade French fries, but you can use this seasoning on a wide range of other potato dishes or really in place of seasoned salt on a wide range of food.
This from-scratch seasoning mix recipe makes about 1/2 cup. It should fit in 4-ounce glass jars, mason jars, or other spice containers. If you are using a 4-ounce jar, you may need to fill the jar most of the way with the seasoning mix, then gently tap on your counter to remove any air bubbles to make room for the rest of the seasoning mix.
It also makes a great homemade gift idea for your favorite foodie friends and family. Make a big batch along with some other homemade seasoning mixes including Blackened Seasoning, Chili Seasoning, Seasoning Salt, Burger Seasoning, Steak Seasoning, and Poultry Seasoning.
The seasoning mixes would look great in little glass jars with ribbons or bows. Perfect gift for Christmas, birthdays, or even Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. For more ideas, check out my long list of other Homemade Seasoning Mix Recipes.
What is Fry Seasoning
Fry seasoning is a spice blend made up of generally salt and other spices. It’s used to season French fries before or after cooking.
So this is the spice mix I use, but as I said, you can easily add other spices or change the amounts. It really is an all-purpose type seasoning mix.

I used this spice mix to make roasted potatoes. And wow, it was so good. Perfectly seasoned with just a hint of heat from the smoked paprika (I used smoked sweet paprika).
