No need to deep fry, when you can make homemade crispy fries. A lot healthier, and I personally like baked fries better. They’re crispy, and not greasy. These are the best Greek Fries! These homemade French fries are topped with my homemade Tzatziki, feta cheese, and fresh chopped parsley. I ate a huge tray of these but don’t tell anyone!
First, make sure your oven is preheated to 450 degrees F. The oven needs to be really hot to get the potatoes nice and crispy. For easy cleanup I like to line my baking sheet with parchment paper.
You could put the potatoes right on the baking sheet, but they may stick and the pans may be difficult to clean. I STRONGLY recommend the parchment paper. Don’t use silpats because the fries won’t crisp up as well.
Cut the potatoes into thin strips with (or without) the skin on to make the fries. We personally like to leave the potato skin on, but you can certainly peel it off first. Toss the french fries in some olive oil, then salt, pepper, garlic powder, (dry) oregano, and lemon zest (I use the zest from the lemon I use in the homemade Tzatziki).
Bake the Greek Fries for about 20-30 minutes or until crispy. Rotate the pans about halfway through the baking. When you’re rotating the pans, you can flip the potatoes over at that point if you want them extra crispy but I personally don’t, because it takes a while and I think the fries turn out fine if you just rotate the pans.
When the fries are nice and crispy, top them with feta cheese, tzatziki, and fresh chopped parsley. There you have it, Greek French Fries! I wrote the recipe for just one serving, but you can easily make more and multiply the ingredients. A lot depends on how much room you have in your oven. Happy eating! Hope you enjoy these fabulous Baked Greek French Fries!
