Ranch Refrigerator Pickles, an easy ranch-flavored dill pickle recipe! These tasty homemade overnight pickles are ready the next day with no canning! Quick and easy pickles that are great all by themselves or in other recipes.
I’m the first to admit, I’m not a “canner”, so I’ve become a bit obsessed with homemade overnight refrigerator pickles. These Ranch Refrigerator Pickles were a lot of fun with fresh summer cucumbers and Ranch seasoning. A great addition to my other pickle recipes including my super popular Spicy Pickles, Mexican Refrigerator Pickles, and the regular dill Overnight Homemade Pickles. These Refrigerator Sweet Pickles have also been popular!
These Ranch Pickles are for the most part fool-proof. Don’t worry if you’ve never made from scratch pickles before. They don’t take that long to prep and really are ready to eat the next day.
Traditional “canning” kind of freaks me out and is a whole long process, so I love how easy these refrigerator pickles are to make with simple ingredients. No fancy tools or ingredients needed.
These homemade pickles stay crunchy in your fridge for quite a long time. Keep a batch or two in the fridge to snack on. A big batch of Pickled Red Onions is also great to have on hand!

Uses for Ranch Pickles
- Use on or in your favorite sandwiches, burgers (like these Pickle Chicken Burgers), or hot dogs.
- Chop up and put in dips.
- Place in a bowl and serve all by themselves as a snack or appetizer.
- Use as a unique pizza topping.
- Substitute them for any recipe that has dill pickles.
Quick Tips for Best Results
- Use fresh ingredients including fresh dill, onion, and garlic for the best flavor.
- Use a wide mouth quart mason jar if you can. I find them the easiest and best for refrigerator pickles.
- Use small crunchy cucumbers that don’t have a lot of seeds for best results. I have found larger cucumbers don’t work as well and you may be disappointed with the results.
- Make the recipe as-is the first time and if you like it, then you can experiment with adding or substituting ingredients such as spices and herbs.
- Shake the jar every few hours or so if you can to make sure the ingredients are well distributed.

These are fantastic- made for my husband but I was impressed – I’m not crazy about store bought so I tried this recipe. EZ & the Ranch added a subtle lovely taste you couldn’t figure out if you didn’t know what it was. Keeper, thank you!
Lisa Huff says
thank you so much Lisa! :)
Becki says
How long will these last in the fridge (assuming they aren’t eaten right away) ?
Lisa Huff says
At least a few weeks if not longer.
Betty says
These pickles were so good! Big hit at our St. Patty’s day party! Easy to make too……..
Lisa Huff says
thank you! :)
Linda says
Sounds so good. Do you have to add sugar? I hate sweet pickles.
Lisa Huff says
No, you probably don’t need to but these pickles are definitely not sweet like regular sweet pickles. They’re more like tangy dill pickles.
Stephanie says
My family and I love this recipe! My only issue is that the ranch packet sinks to the bottom when I put it in the fridge. Is that normal? Does it have to boil longer?
Lisa Huff says
Hi Stephanie! So happy to hear your family loves it! Some of the ranch packet may not dissolve which is ok. But some should dissolve. If you feel like not enough is dissolving, I would suggest boiling a little longer. And also, I would suggest shaking the bottle every now and then at least the first day to just redistribute the flavors a little. Hope that helps!
Natalie says
HI, CAN THESE BE PUT IN A WATER BATH? AND PUT IN THE PANTRY? THANK YOU
Lisa Huff says
I don’t believe so, but I’m not a very experienced canner so not sure if they would be ok. They do however last quite a long time in the fridge.
Natalie says
I just tasted them they’re horrible. They don’t taste like ranch at all.
Dayna says
Can I add more cucumbers to the brine when the 1st batch is gone?
Lisa Huff says
I haven’t tried but think you could reuse once although it may take the cucumbers a little longer to soak in the flavor.
Jennie Rasmussen says
These are delicious! Big hit!
Lisa Huff says
Thanks Jennie! Glad everyone liked it!
Mindy says
My fridge us full of pickles and I have tons more to make. Can these be processed in a water bath instead?
Lisa Huff says
I’m assuming you mean canned to be shelf-stable? I don’t believe they can be, but I’m not one for canning so can’t say for sure.
Erin says
What kind of onion? Purple, white, or yellow?
Lisa Huff says
You can use whatever you have or like, although I would suggest white or yellow.
Jocelyn (Grandbaby Cakes) says

This is such a cool idea — I would never think to flavor the pickles with a packet of ranch, but it makes SO MUCH SENSE.
