Chicken Bacon Alfredo

Chicken Bacon Alfredo, all the great flavors of Fettuccine Alfredo but with chicken, bacon, and a quick and easy homemade Alfredo sauce. Simple dinner that can be made on busy nights!

Did someone say BACON? Yep, this Chicken Bacon Alfredo is full of pasta, Homemade Alfredo Sauce, chicken, and BACON. This pasta dish is quick and easy, and a family favorite for a quick weeknight meal or special occasion.

Another quick dinner option to add to all my fun Alfredo recipes. This one is just as quick and easy as all the others. Easy enough for a weeknight dinner, and delicious enough for a special occasion.

Feel free to use any kind of pasta you’d like or have around. Just be sure to adjust the baking time.

Also, I used raw chicken, but if you have leftover chicken or a rotisserie chicken, that would be a great way to save time! Or see my How to Make Shredded Chicken for another option. You’ll get lots of leftover chicken for even more recipes.

Chicken Bacon Alfredo Ingredients

  • Fettuccine pasta (or your favorite pasta)
  • Bacon
  • Chicken, boneless skinless breasts
  • Butter
  • Garlic
  • Heavy cream
  • Parmesan, good quality freshly grated

 

How to Make Chicken Bacon Alfredo

  1. MAKE PASTA. Bring a large pot of water to boil and cook pasta according to box directions for al dente.
  2. COOK CHICKEN & BACON. Meanwhile, cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat for about 3-5 minutes or until bacon is crispy. Remove bacon from pan, and place on paper towels, but reserve the fat in the pan. Cook the chicken in the pan for about 3-5 minutes or until browned and cooked through. Set aside.
  3. MAKE ALFREDO SAUCE. Place a large pot over medium heat. Melt butter, then stir in minced garlic cloves. Cook about 1 minute or until garlic is soft and fragrant, stirring constantly.
  4. Slowly add the heavy cream to the saucepan, whisk until cream comes to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 3-5 minutes or until it starts to thicken.
  5. COMBINE. Stir in Parmesan cheese until smooth and thick. Stir in bacon, chicken, and drained cooked pasta.

Serving Suggestions

  • Before serving, I’d suggest topping the pasta with a little fresh chopped parsley and/or freshly grated parmesan cheese. A little more crispy bacon on top would also be great. Completely optional though!
  • For best results, serve right away. Alfredo sauce generally tastes best right after its made, and not reheated.
  • This pasta would be great with a salad and/or homemade bread like these homemade Fluffy Buttermilk Chive Biscuits or this tasty Beer Bread.
  • A side vegetable would also be delicious with this pasta such as steamed broccoli or even these easy Italian Green Beans or Roasted Brussels Sprouts.

Quick Tips for Best Results

  • I would recommend serving this pasta dish right away. You can reheat leftovers, but they might not be as good.
  • Use any kind of pasta you’d like, but make sure you adjust the pasta cooking time as needed.
  • Be sure the chicken and bacon are thoroughly cooked before mixing with the pasta. You could also use precooked leftover chicken if you have any in the fridge.
  • If you like a lot of pasta and/or sauce, you might want to double either or both in the recipe. Some people may find the serving size a bit on the small side. Likewise, if you prefer A LOT of sauce, you may want to double the sauce recipe. Personal preference.

How should I store this Chicken Bacon Alfredo?
Pasta dishes with Alfredo Sauce are generally best served right away, however, if you have leftovers, store covered in the fridge.

Can I freeze the Chicken Baco Alfredo pasta?
I would not suggest freezing this pasta dish. Alfredo sauce doesn’t always freeze well.

How long will the pasta last?
If covered well, it should last at least a few days in the fridge.

Substitutions?
Instead of chicken and bacon you could use your favorite protein and/or vegetables. Sausage, crab, shrimp, mushrooms, onions, peppers, and broccoli are just a handful of tasty options.

Can I use low-fat ingredients?
I would not recommend using low-fat cream or cheese for the Alfredo sauce. You can, but the sauce may not be as creamy or thick.

What else can I add to this recipe?
Like I mentioned with the substitutions, you can add your favorite proteins and/or veggies. You could also add some Cajun seasoning or dried Italian seasoning, basil, or oregano. A little ranch seasoning would also be great mixed with the Alfredo sauce.

What should I serve the pasta with?
See above for more serving suggestions, but I would suggest a simple salad and/or side green vegetable.

Didn’t turn out, what went wrong?
If you didn’t use heavy cream and good quality Parmesan cheese, your sauce may get grainy and not thicken as well.

Can I make this vegan, vegetarian, low carb, or gluten-free?
Vegan – You can try vegan dairy and cheese in this but results could vary quite a bit.

Vegetarian – Omit the chicken and bacon, and add your favorite meat substitute or vegetables.

Low-Carb – Swap out the pasta for a lower carb pasta, zoodles, or spaghetti squash.

Gluten-Free – Swap out the pasta for a gluten-free pasta, zoodles, or spaghetti squash.

Notes

SNAPPY TIPS: You can add your favorite vegetables as desired. Top with a little more grated cheese and/or fresh chopped parsley if desired as well.
SNAPPY SUBSTITUTIONS: You can try using lighter creams or whole milk for a lighter version, but sauce will not thicken as much so you may want to also add a thickener. Try your favorite pasta but be sure to adjust the cooking time as needed. Instead of cooking the chicken, you can use chopped precooked chicken such as grilled or even a rotisserie chicken.
