Marshmallow Frosting, an easy homemade frosting recipe using marshmallow fluff. Ready in just minutes, this delicious fluffy frosting is great on cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and more!
This homemade Marshmallow Frosting is so simple and comes together in no time! It’s delicious on a wide range of treats as-is or add other flavorings like chocolate, chocolate, strawberry, or even peanut butter for a whole new frosting!
I’ve used this frosting for a wide range of recipes including these Dipped S’mores Cupcakes and this S’mores Cake. I thought it was time to give this easy frosting a post all to itself.
The frosting itself is quite versatile and would be great on vanilla or chocolate cake (like this One Bowl Chocolate Cake), cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and just about any other treat. You could even just spoon it on graham crackers and top with some chocolate chips.
This Marshmallow Frosting only takes about 5 minutes or less to make thanks to marshmallow fluff (if you have no idea what I’m talking about -> what is marshmallow fluff).
I would not recommend substituting regular marshmallows or melted marshmallows in this recipe for the fluff. They will not hold up like marshmallow fluff.
As I said above, the frosting is great as-is, or you can add your favorite flavoring, extracts, or mix-ins such as toasted coconut, chocolate chips or chopped chocolate, chopped fresh strawberries or strawberry extract, or even peanut butter powder. The possibilities are endless.
The frosting is a bit on the sweet side, so you might not want to add anything that is really sweet, but personal preference.

Can I make this vegan/vegetarian/low carb/gluten-free?
Here are some suggestions, but I can’t guarantee results. Be sure as always to check particular brands and ingredients if you’re following a specific diet or have diet restrictions or allergies.
Vegan – This would be a tough one to make vegan. Marshmallow Fluff usually contains eggs.
Vegetarian – It’s vegetarian, but check your marshmallow fluff just to be sure.
Low-Carb – There’s a lot of sugar in this recipe and would be difficult to make low carb.
Gluten-Free – It’s gluten-free but check brands to be sure.
