What I Love About This Recipe
- I love how simple these sliders are to make while still feeling a little special.
- The chicken patties stay juicy thanks to the sauces mixed right into the meat, and the mango topping adds freshness that keeps the sliders from feeling heavy.
- Another big win is how fast these sliders come together. The patties cook in just a few minutes, and the mango onion topping requires no cooking at all. That makes this a great last-minute recipe when you need something quick but still impressive.
Equipment You May Need
- Large Mixing Bowl – Used to gently combine the chicken mixture.
- Large Skillet – Works perfectly for cooking the patties on the stovetop. You can use a nonstick pan or even a griddle if you prefer.
- Small Bowl – For mixing the mango onion topping.
- Knife and Cutting Board for chopping the fruit and onion.
- Toaster Oven – Optional for toasting the rolls. You can also use your oven.
Ingredients
- Ground Chicken – Ground chicken makes these sliders lighter than traditional beef sliders while still staying juicy and flavorful.
- Teriyaki Sauce – Adds savory, slightly sweet flavor to the chicken patties and the topping.
- Sweet Chili Sauce – Brings a mild heat and sweetness that pairs perfectly with the mango.
- Salt and Pepper – Enhances the flavor of the chicken.
- Olive Oil – Used to lightly coat the skillet and prevent sticking.
- Mango – Fresh ripe mango adds sweetness and freshness to the topping.
- Red Onion – Provides a little bite and crunch that balances the sweet mango.
- Slider Rolls – Soft slider buns hold everything together. Toasting them is optional but adds texture.
How to Make Sweet & Spicy Teriyaki Chicken Sliders
Step One: Make Slider Patties
Start by adding the ground chicken to a large mixing bowl. Gently mix in half of the teriyaki sauce, half of the sweet chili sauce, and salt and pepper to taste. Be careful not to overmix so the patties stay tender. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and form into small slider-sized patties.
Step Two: Cook Chicken
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and lightly coat the bottom with olive oil. Once the pan is hot, add the patties and cook for a few minutes per side until fully cooked through and lightly browned.
Step Three: Make Dip
While the chicken cooks, mix the remaining teriyaki sauce and sweet chili sauce with the chopped mango and red onion in a small bowl.
Step Four: Assemble Sliders
To assemble the sliders, place the cooked chicken patties on the bottom halves of the slider rolls. Spoon the mango onion mixture on top, then add the top halves of the rolls. Serve warm.

Quick Tips for Best Results

YES, I would definitely add cilantro! I love cilantro but was limited to 5 ingredients or less (with the exception of oil and salt/pepper) for the contest. Cabbage for a cole slaw would also be a nice addition for the topping. You are of course more than welcome to enter the giveaway!!! That’s why it’s there! :)

Yum! Sounds great. I wouldn’t be able to resist adding cilantro in too…. I love cilantro but I know it’s one of those herbs that folks either love or hate — nothing in between….
