Mississippi Mudtini

by Lisa Huff on December 29, 2011

I hope you enjoyed my 2011 Cookiepalooza with 8 cookies made from one dough!  The cookies will be in my Recipe Index very soon!   Hope you are having a great holiday season and Happy New Year!  To end the year on a good note, I thought I’d have my last recipe of the year be one of my -tini recipes!!  This Mississippi Mudtini is incredible!!!  It will definitely WOW your friends and family!!  Recently while browsing through Pinterest (if you are not signed up on Pinterest, you need to sign up NOW!  See below…) I ran across a picture of a Mississippi Mud cake and it brought back great memories of living in the south.  I knew it would be a perfect combination for a cocktail recipe!

If you’ve never heard of Pinterest check it out!!  It’s FREE to join and it’s like an online “bulletin board” where you can post your favorite pictures, ideas, recipes, and anything or everything you see around the internet on your own “boards”.  It’s easy to use and you can follow other people and they can follow you so you can find new things based on your interests.  It’s addictive, so beware!  I have found all sorts of great party ideas, recipes, photo ideas, crafts, gift ideas, etc.  It is similar to StumbleUpon which is also another great FREE website!  Both are worth checking out!  You can follow me on both.

Back to today’s drink….Mississippi Mudtini!  This drink is easy to make and quite decadent!  I think it takes me longer to spell M i s s i s s i p p i!  If you’re not familiar with Mississippi Mud recipes, they usually involve chocolate, marshmallow, and nuts.  The nuts are usually pecans, but I’ve seen walnuts and other nuts used too.  Great combination isn’t it???  To make the drink I used Pinnacle Marshmallow Vodka, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Nocello (walnut/hazelnut liqueur), milk, and some Hershey’s chocolate syrup. You could use any kind of nut liqueur.  I would have liked to have used a pecan liqueur but they’re not as widely available or easy to find as some of the other nut liqueurs.

I topped the drink off with Reddi-wip Chocolate whipped cream (oh my goodness, this stuff is GOOD!).  Then I found some chocolate bars in the cupboard and used a peeler to make some quick chocolate shavings.  The chocolate was probably leftover from the kids Halloween stash, so shhhhhhh…..

I’m just a poor blogger and all I ask for is a little love to keep me going. :) So please don’t forget to ENTER my current giveaways for some great prizes! Kelli from Happy Hour Cupcakes pointed me to this recipe and I had to try it out. I made slight modifications, using Frangelica for the nut liquor and cutting the vodka in half (4oz made the first drink overpowering). But the end result was chocolate decadence to ring in the New year with.. Fantastic recipe and a definite repeat in the near future.
