It’s been a long week here in Connecticut! A freak snow storm last weekend left most of the state without power, many without water, trees and electrical wires down all over, and school was cancelled all week. Yep, no school ALL week! So when I say TGIF today, I really REALLY mean it!!! To celebrate this Friday how about another -tini recipe???? This -tini tastes of strawberries, pretzels, cream cheese, and whipped topping. Might sound like a strange combination but it will all make sense as you read on. This Strawberry Pretzel Whiptini is one of my best -tinis! Yes, I realize I say that with each new cocktail and probably will continue to say it!! You’re probably wondering where the heck this idea came from for this Strawberry Pretzel Whiptini so I probably should explain, and trust me, it’s ALOT better than it sounds…
Today’s Strawberry Pretzel Whiptini recipe came to me after seeing a picture for an old favorite dessert. I then saw my bottle of Pinnacle Whipped Vodka in the cupboard and knew I could turn this dessert into a cocktail! I’m sure you’ll recognize this dessert once you see it. I’ve seen multiple variations of it and it goes by different names such as these Strawberry Pretzel Squares. I’ve also had a variation in more of a “salad” form and served as a side dish and have also seen another variation called a Strawberry Whip. But whatever you want to call it and however you want to make it, there’s something a bit addictive about the sweetness of the strawberries, saltiness and crunchiness of the pretzels, and creaminess of the cream cheese and Cool Whip. And next thing I knew the Strawberry Pretzel Whiptini was born…
So this isn’t a “martini” but just a fun twist and another reason to use my martini glasses. You can of course use any kind of glass you have and could call these Strawberry Pretzel Whips if you want. For the strawberry part of this drink I used Master of Mixes Strawberry Daiquiri/Margarita Mix. I then combined that with Pinnacle Whipped Vodka, milk (or you can use cream), and a little bit of JELL-O cheesecake flavored instant pudding mix. I lined the rim with strawberry ice cream sauce (but you could also put a little strawberry jam/jelly in the microwave for a little while to thin) and crushed pretzels and then topped the drink with Cool Whip.
If you don’t have any of the strawberry daiquiri/margarita mix, look around your house and see what other strawberry flavor options you have. You could try a combination of strawberry gelatin mix and water. You could also try putting some defrosted frozen strawberries (or fresh strawberries) in a blender with a little powdered sugar and the other ingredients for the drink. I only tried this drink with the daiquiri/margarita mix so I can’t comment on how the other options would taste or work out, although I’m sure they’d be fine. Hope you enjoy! Have a great weekend!
I’m just a poor blogger and all I ask for is a little love to keep me going.
