Tropical BBQ Ribs are tender pork spareribs seasoned with Caribbean jerk spices and finished with a sweet, tangy pineapple honey barbecue sauce. This easy summer rib recipe is perfect for grilling, backyard BBQs, and family dinners when you want bold tropical flavor with minimal prep.

Tropical BBQ Ribs are a sweet and slightly spicy rib recipe made with honey barbecue sauce, juicy pineapple, fresh lime juice, and Caribbean jerk seasoning. These easy ribs are perfect for summer grilling, backyard BBQs, and casual gatherings when you want big flavor without a long ingredient list.

If you love summer grilling as much as I do, this rib recipe is for you. There is just something about ribs on the grill that feels like summer, especially when they are brushed with a sticky, tropical-inspired BBQ sauce. These ribs are sweet, tangy, and packed with flavor, but they are also surprisingly easy to make.
One of my favorite things about this recipe is how simple it is. You only need a handful of ingredients, and most of the flavor comes from using a good Caribbean jerk seasoning and a store-bought honey barbecue sauce. No long spice lists or complicated sauces here. Just simple ingredients that work really well together.
The pineapple and lime add a bright, tropical flavor that pairs perfectly with the smoky ribs and sweet barbecue sauce. Whether you are hosting a summer cookout or just want a fun dinner idea, these Tropical Pineapple & Honey BBQ Ribs are always a hit.
What I Love About This Recipe
- It uses just a few simple ingredients, but the flavor tastes like you spent all day working on it.
- The pineapple honey BBQ sauce adds a sweet and tangy twist that makes these ribs stand out from classic BBQ ribs.
- You can grill these ribs, bake them in the oven, or adapt the cooking method to whatever works best for you.

Equipment You May Need
- Grill – Set up for indirect heat, or an oven if you prefer baking the ribs instead.
- Blender or Food Processor – To make the pineapple honey BBQ sauce smooth.
- Aluminum Foil or Disposable Pans – If grilling, to help manage drips and flare-ups.
- Basting Brush – For brushing the sauce onto the ribs while they cook.

Ingredients
- Pork spareribs – A full rack of pork spareribs works best and becomes tender when cooked low and slow.
- Caribbean jerk seasoning – This adds spice, warmth, and bold flavor without needing multiple spices.
- Honey barbecue sauce – A store-bought honey BBQ sauce keeps the recipe quick and easy.
- Chopped pineapple – Fresh or canned pineapple adds sweetness and tropical flavor to the sauce.
- Fresh lime juice – Lime juice balances the sweetness of the pineapple and BBQ sauce.
- Fresh cilantro – Chopped cilantro adds a fresh, herby finish right before serving.

How to Make Tropical Ribs
Step One: Season Ribs
Place the ribs on a large plate or baking sheet and rub the Caribbean jerk seasoning evenly on both sides. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour, or overnight for more flavor.
Step Two: Make Sauce
Add the barbecue sauce, pineapple, and lime juice to a blender and blend until smooth. Cover and refrigerate the sauce until ready to use.
Step Three: Preheat
Preheat the grill for indirect cooking and cook the ribs over low heat for about 1 to 1½ hours until tender.
Step Four: Cook
Brush the ribs with the pineapple honey BBQ sauce and continue grilling for another 15–30 minutes, turning and basting frequently.
Step Four: Serve
Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for about 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with extra sauce on the side.

Serving Suggestions
- Serve these ribs with classic BBQ sides like coleslaw, corn on the cob, pasta salad, or baked beans.
- Pair them with rice and black beans for a slightly Caribbean-inspired meal.
- Add grilled pineapple slices or mango salsa on the side for extra tropical flavor.
- Serve with lime wedges so everyone can add a little extra brightness if they want.
Quick Tips for Best Results
- Cook the ribs low and slow, so they stay tender and juicy instead of drying out.
- Use indirect heat on the grill to prevent the sugar in the sauce from burning too quickly.
- Let the ribs rest before cutting so the juices redistribute and the meat stays moist.
- Adjust the amount of jerk seasoning if you prefer less heat, since some blends are spicier than others.
