Bacon & Apples Foster, a fun twist on Bananas Foster an easy homemade ice cream dessert recipe.
Bacon & Apples Foster recipe for you today! I think you’re going to love this quick and easy dessert recipe that is a twist on the popular New Orleans dessert Bananas Foster! This Bacon & Apples Foster dessert is similar to Bananas Foster, but with apples and bacon! You may think I’m crazy adding bacon to this ice cream dessert but trust me, you will want seconds and maybe even thirds!
Bananas Foster has always been one of my favorite desserts. I thought it would be a fun twist using apples, rum, and BACON! Hard not to like bacon, isn’t it? If you haven’t tried bacon in dessert recipes, I strongly recommend trying it. The bacon adds a salty flavor and crispy texture to desserts and the perfect addition to the apples and ice cream in these Bacon & Apples Foster desserts.
I cut the bacon slices in half so that they would fit better in my pan. Cook the bacon a few minutes per side or until crispy. Remove, and chop.
While the bacon is cooking, peel, core, and slice your apples. You can use your favorite baking apple.
Reserve a little bit of the bacon grease in the pan, then drain the rest. Add the butter and apples to the pan. Cook the apples until they begin to soften then add the brown sugar, maple syrup, rum, cider, and cinnamon. Simmer until apples are soft.
Let the apples cool a bit, then serve with vanilla ice cream and chopped bacon. Lots of chopped bacon. :)
And there you have it…Bacon & Apples Foster! This is the perfect summer into fall dessert. Lots of fall flavors yet still cook enough for warm temperatures. You will wow your family and guests with the bacon crumbles! Enjoy!
Hope you enjoy!
