Homemade Alfredo Sauce
Homemade Alfredo Sauce, how to make alfredo sauce from scratch that is easy and similar to Olive Garden!
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Yield 4 servings (makes about 1 1/4 cups)
- 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese (see note below)
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Place a medium saucepan over medium heat. Melt butter, then stir in minced garlic cloves. Cook about 1 minute or until garlic is soft and fragrant, stirring constantly.
Slowly add the heavy cream to the saucepan, whisk until cream comes to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 3-5 minutes or until it starts to thicken.
Stir in Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper until smooth and thick.
SNAPPY TIPS: You can add your favorite spices and herbs for easy new flavors.
SNAPPY SUBSTITUTIONS: I strongly discourage any substitutions with this recipe. You can try using lighter creams or whole milk for a lighter version, but sauce will not thicken as much so you may want to also add a thickener.
PARMESAN: PLEASE buy a big chunk of good quality Parmesan cheese and grate it yourself. It will melt a lot better and you'll be happier with the results.
