How to Make a Killer Burger
This All American burger starts with a beef patty. For the burger patty recipe, I used ground chuck. I would suggest a beef that has a fat content of about 15-20% for best results but you can use any type of ground beef you’d like.
Crumble the beef in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the worcestershire sauce on top then sprinkle the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on top. Or you could also use this all-purpose DIY Burger Seasoning.
VERY gently with your hands combine the beef with the other ingredients. Do NOT overmix or compact the meat. That will make your burgers tougher.
Gently, make the burgers into 4 patties slightly larger than your rolls. they’ll shrink a little when they cook.
How Long to Grill Burgers
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the burger patties about 3-5 minutes per side depending on how done you like your burgers.
Burgers do NOT take very long to cook on the grill so be careful you do not overcook.
During the last-minute of cooking or so, top each burger patty with a slice of cheese to melt.
I also like to throw the rolls, cut side down, on the grill to toast lightly. Just keep an eye on the rolls because they can burn quickly! Try to keep them over indirect heat or the sides of the grill.

How Long to Cook Burgers on the Stove
Although I prefer grilled burgers, we all know that sometimes you just can’t grill for whatever reason. Sometimes our grill runs out of gas, or the weather is bad, and sometimes there’s 5 feet of snow outside. haha!
But whatever the reason, you can cook these Killer Burgers on the stove. I personally think cast iron, or an indoor cast iron griddle, is the best option but use any large pan you have.
Preheat the pan over medium-high heat. You can add a little butter or oil, but not necessary if there’s a lot of fat in your beef.
Cook the burgers about 3-5 minutes per side or slightly longer until desired doneness. During the last-minute, put a slice of cheese on each patty and cover the pan with a lid so the cheese can melt.
You can then toast the rolls in a toaster oven or in the oven for just a few minutes until lightly toasted.

Be sure to use a good quality roll for these burgers. I like to use sesame seed buns but onion rolls or brioche rolls are also great options!
