Ham Dip, a quick and easy appetizer recipe with ham, cream cheese, Swiss cheese, and a few other ingredients. Great way to use up leftover holiday ham and perfect for New Year’s Eve parties and potlucks.
This easy Ham Dip is a great way to use up any leftover ham you may have around during the holidays. The best appetizer to bring to a New Year’s Eve party and no one will know that you used leftover ham, haha!
If ham isn’t quite your thing check out some of my other appetizer recipes such as Philly Cheesesteak Dip, Chicken Enchilada Dip, or Chipotle Corn Dip. I seem to have a lot of dip recipes now that I look at through my index. Not sure how that happened, ha!
But if you like ham as much as we do, I think you’ll enjoy this quick and easy Ham Dip.
How to Make Ham Dip:
You can easily change this Ham Dip up with your favorite spices and cheese(s)!
Only 7 ingredients for this ham dip including…
- Ham
- Cream Cheese
- Swiss Cheese
- Sour Cream
- Garlic Powder
- Green Onion
- Dijon Mustard
Like I mentioned, you can use leftover ham. Depending on the ham, you may want to cut off any fat, rind, etc. A homemade holiday ham would work great!
For the cream cheese, make sure it is SOFTENED to room temperature so you don’t have lumps of cream cheese in your dip.
We like Swiss cheese in this dip, but you could use white American, cheddar, Italian, or any of your favorite shredded cheeses that go well with ham.
For the sour cream, you can use regular or lowfat. You could even use mayonnaise instead.
For flavor, add a little garlic powder, green onion, and mustard. Or you could also use your favorite herbs and spices. Even store-bought or homemade ranch seasoning would be great.
Put all the ingredients in a food processor, and pulse until combined, that’s it!
Unfortunately, you really do need a food processor (or good blender) to make the dip. It helps shred the ham up finely so it blends with all the other ingredients.
You could do it by hand, but it really won’t be as good. You will have chunks of ham throughout the dip.
This is a great dip to make ahead of time for parties! You can make it a few days ahead of time, place it in a serving bowl, and cover well, then refrigerate. Top with a little extra green onion for garnish.
I would guess it would last a good 3-5 days in the fridge, or maybe even a little longer. Of course it depends on all of your ingredients.
Instead of ham, you could try other meat such as turkey, crab, or shrimp. Although I haven’t tried them with this particular recipe so can’t say for sure how well it will turn out.
Serve this Ham Dip with your favorite crackers, crostini, or even veggies. You can also serve this in a bread bowl and use the bread for dipping. This Cold Spinach Dip is another great no-bake appetizer.
