Blood Orange Margarita, an easy cocktail recipe with blood orange juice, tequila, lime juice, and honey.
I was recently walking through the grocery store and saw a big bag of blood oranges. I couldn’t pass it up! The first thing that came to my mind was to make a quick and easy Blood Orange Margarita! Cinco de Mayo is coming up, and these blood orange margaritas would be perfect. Be sure to grab some blood oranges quick, because they’re just about out of season. If you can’t find the blood oranges or fresh blood orange juice, no worries, you should be able to find bottled blood orange juice at your store or even on Amazon.
I can’t believe as of right now I only have one other margarita recipe on Snappy Gourmet, my Mango Coconut Margarita. Cinco de Mayo is coming up so margaritas are always a great choice! However, if you’re in the mood for something a little different, these Mexican Chocolate Shots are also great!
The color of blood oranges is really amazing if you’ve never seen the inside of one. I always want to call them orange blood, instead of a blood orange, because the juice does kind of look like blood. I’m going to need to proof read this post about 5 times to just make sure I didn’t call them orange blood, haha!
I have all sorts of blood orange cocktails and blood orange drink recipes swirling around in my head. I also have a blood orange salad, blood orange martini, blood orange cake and many other recipe ideas in my head. Someone please make it stop, haha! I think I’m addicted to blood oranges this week!
There are lots of blood orange margarita recipes out there, but this is my version of my very own original margarita recipe. Margarita ingredients can vary, but my version has very simple ingredients including the blood orange juice, lime juice, tequila, and honey. Instead of honey you could use your favorite sweetener.
This is a very refreshing margarita and not too tart in my opinion. If you want something a little more tart, add more lime juice or less sugar. I may be crazy, but I think even a little jalapeno for a fun blood orange jalapeno margarita recipe would be fun!
Salt your rim and garnish with lime slices or blood orange slices and you have yourself a quick an easy cocktail! These blood orange margaritas are also great to make in a big batch and serve from a pitcher.
Thanks for visiting! Hope you enjoy!
