I wish I had some exciting back story about this recipe.  All I can say is that I apparently had bacon on my mind and tried to think of something fun to do for my husband.  So I couldn’t even wait until the next day to give this cinnamon roll recipe idea a try!  I made them at night so my apologies for the horrible quality prep photos!!  I guess that’s what I get for having NO patience and waiting until the next day!

Start with some biscuit dough.  I used Pillsbury (8 count) Grands Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuits. Cut each biscuit into 8 pieces and roll each piece into a ball.  Press each ball flat into a circle.  Overlap 4 circles slightly and push down a little so that the dough sticks together.  The dough should look like a snowman with an extra circle. :)

Bake the cinnamon roll roses for about 12 to 15 minutes at 350 degrees F (or follow the baking directions on the package of biscuit dough if you use a different kind).  The cinnamon roll roses will be golden brown around the edges.

Banana Bacon Cinnamon Roll Roses ( then got some cheap (I’m talking like $1 for a bunch) fake roses.  I cut off the flower petals and put the cinnamon rolls in their place at the top of the stems.  Make sure the fake flowers you have or buy have a little plastic center piece that you can stick into the cinnamon roll to keep it in place.  If it does not (some of mine fell off, but that’s what you get for $1…), if there is a small hole in the middle, cut a toothpick (or wooden skewer) in half and place it in the hole and stick the toothpick into the cinnamon roll to hold it.  Just be sure to tell your guests to remove the toothpicks before eating. :)

Banana Bacon Cinnamon Roll Roses ( of bacon and banana you could use your favorite fillings such as chopped dried fruit, chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips, or anything else you can think of!

Mini cinnamon rolls made into "roses" with bacon and banana!
  • 1 (8 count, 16.3oz) package biscuit dough (I used Pillsbury Grands Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuits)
  • ½ cup melted butter or margarine
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 pound bacon, cooked & finely chopped
  • 1 (6oz) bag banana chips, finely chopped
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a mini muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Separate biscuits. Cut each biscuit into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball. Flatten each ball of dough. Overlap 4 pieces of dough (should look like snowman with an extra circle) and lightly press so dough sticks. Cut down the middle (you'll have 2 sets of 4 semi-circles for each for a total of 32 roses).
  3. Brush top of dough with melted butter. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, bacon, and banana chips in small bowl and stir to combine. Sprinkle over dough. Roll up dough starting at long end to form roses. Push slightly on seam to adhere then place in prepared mini muffin pan. if you have remaining melted butter or margarine, you can brush on top of roses.
  4. Bake cinnamon roll roses for about 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees F.
SNAPPY TIPS: To finely chop the banana chips, place them in a food processor and process for a few seconds. If you use a different kind of biscuit dough, be sure to use the baking directions specific for that dough. You can also remove fake flowers from the plastic stems and attach the cinnamon roll roses to the stems.

SNAPPY SUBSTITUTIONS: Instead of bacon and banana, use your favorite fillings such as other dried fruit, nuts, and mini chips.
